A ug 2 00 5 Spectral properties of nuclear matter

چکیده
We review self-consistent spectral methods for nuclear matter calculations. The in-medium T −matrix approach is conserving and thermodynamically consistent. It gives both the global and the single-particle properties the system. The T −matrix approximation allows to address the pairing phenomenon in cold nuclear matter. A generalization of nuclear matter calculations to the superfluid phase is discussed and numerical results are presented for this case. The linear response of a correlated system going beyond the Hartree-Fock+ Random-Phase-Approximation (RPA) scheme is studied. The polarization is obtained by solving a consistent Bethe-Salpeter (BS) equation for the coupling of dressed nucleons to an external field. We find that multipair contributions are important for the spin(isospin) response when the interaction is spin(isospin) dependent.

We calculate the effect of many-body interactions in nuclear matter on the spectral function of ρ and ω meson. In particular, we focus on the role played by baryon resonances in this context.

This is a review of the latest developments in the theory of superdense nuclear matter, formed in relativistic heavy ion collisions or in the core of collapsed stars, as they were reported and discussed at the Quark Matter 2005 conference in Budapest (Hungary).

Thermodynamical properties of hot and dense nuclear matter are analyzed and compared for different equations of state (EoS). It is argued that the softest point of the equation of state and the strangeness separation on the phase boundary can manifest themselves in observables. The influence of the EoS and the order of the phase transition on the expansion dynamics of nuclear matter and strange...

Dark matter annihilations can generate significant amounts of internal heat inside planets if dark matter consists mainly of particles with nuclear cross sections in the micro-barn range or larger (SIMPs). By considering a detailed model of Uranus’ interior, we calculate upper limits on the Swave annihilation cross section for these particles as a function of their mass. These upper limits, tog...
